Rachel has been secretly in love with all things fiber for most of her life. From the very beginning, Rachel knew that someday her passion would become her career.
After working for others for far too long, Rachel began teaching knitting and crochet around her local community.
She also founded the group South Jersey Yarners, which was really eye-opening. Rachel soon realized that most of her students and fellow fiber artists had no regular local place to go to learn new skills or touch and feel the fibers they really wanted. Big box stores were ruling the area! Now, together with Stevie, she is working to correct that.
Stevie is passionate about all things stringy. After graduating from Moore College of Art and Design in 2007, Stevie knew her textiles degree would lead her down a wonderful path filled with fiber and color.
For a long time, she dreamed of having her own yarn shop, until one day, she decided to stop dreaming, and start doing. Together with Rachel, the dream was born, and they named it A String Thing.
Stevie is constantly learning new techniques and methods of creation. If there is something she doesn’t know, just give her a moment – she’ll figure it out!
